Tuzla Pastane Kurabiyes / mahlepi / salty snacks
Warm up with salty snacks and tea.
Preparation steps
- Make the dough: Put the butter in a bowl, melt it over low heat. Put the melted butter in another bowl, add olive oil, yogurt (separate one tablespoon), vinegar. In a deeper bowl, put flour, ground coriander or herbs as desired, salt, sugar, baking powder, mix everything well. Add egg whites (put egg yolk with a spoonful of yogurt to coat) and mix the liquid ingredients all together into a smooth dough.
- From the dough you make small snakes / rollers, they can be bigger or smaller. I made snakes / rollers the length of a palm that would split in half and then wrap such bruises.
- Preheat the oven to 200C. Place the baking paper on the baking sheet. Mix the egg yolk and a spoonful of yoghurt well. Coat the bruises with a mixture of egg yolk and yogurt, sprinkle with sesame seeds. When the bruises are placed in the oven, reduce the oven to 150C and continue baking until the bruises get a nice color and begin to move on the baking paper.
