Traditional Bosnian halva
Yesterday, halva smelled like our courtyard, and our neighborhoods in Gradačac. A traditional Bosnian delicacy that was prepared by our mothers, grandmothers and aunts on the eve of the selected month of Ramadan. They say that they prepared it for the sake of berićeta and nafaka, and each time we children, intoxicated by the specific smell that spread around the house and the courtyard, still hot pieces taken out with a spoon and sprinkled with fine sugar, blowing into them in an instant grabbed. It was a sweet that was only prepared in jahkad. :) And good habits don't need to be changed, right? Especially those that will be old, beautiful memories in us ... To prepare this traditional treat, you need about 20 minutes.
Preparation steps
- To prepare the syrup with which we will pour the fried flour and butter, it is necessary to boil water, sugar and vanilla sugar and when it boils, leave it to cook for another 5-6 minutes. Fry the flour and butter over a low heat, stirring constantly, until fine, light brown in color. Then briefly remove the sherpa from the hob, pour over the part of the syrup we have prepared and mix quickly so that no lumps form, then pour over the rest of the syrup and constantly stirring return the sherpa with the mixture on the hob, and continue stirring vigorously until the mixture begins to separate from spoons.
Serving
When we get the desired mixture, take out the pieces of hot halva with a spoon and arrange them on a plate (I used an ice cream spoon), and sprinkle with chopped walnuts, almonds or coconut. :)
