Slavski kolac

Preparation steps

  • Beat 2 small cups of milk, add 1 teaspoon of sugar and a small teaspoon of flour, then stir in the yeast and leave to rise. If dry is used then this preparation step is omitted.
  • Sift 900 g of flour, add a teaspoon of salt and mix well. Add the egg yolk and 1 egg that was previously slightly beaten. Add the leftover yeast, lukewarm milk and start kneading the dough. When the dough is well done, it must be airy and not stick to your hands, slowly start adding 1/3 cup of oil and continue to knead the dough. When the dough has "drunk" the oil, add the second third, knead again and finally add the last third and knead the dough well. Leave the dough made in this way to rise in the heat. When it has grown for the first time, stir it again a little and let it grow again.
  • In the meantime, make decorations from the dough we made from 1 dcl of water and flour as needed. The decoration can be birds, grapes, ears ... various symbols that represent progress in life.
  • Line a round cake tin (slightly larger) with baking paper. Let the sides go 5 cm higher than the edge of the mold as the stake will grow. Turn on the oven to the highest temperature and let it heat up.
  • Mix the dough lightly and put it in the mold. Coat it with egg white and arrange the decorations on top. The decorations are not smeared to stay white. Leave the cake to rise for 15 minutes and put it in a hot oven.
  • Bake the cake at a high temperature for about 5 minutes and then reduce the temperature to 180 ° C and bake the cake for about an hour. Occasionally rotate it in the oven to brown it nicely everywhere.
  • Leave the baked stake in the mold for 5 minutes and then slowly remove the mold and paper and place the stake on the grid to cool. Place a cold stake on the Slav plate. Pleasant!
  • Use a difference of 100 g of flour to knead the dough twice.
