Sis cevap

Wherever I went to visit, for iftar, lunch, some celebration, merriment, etc., the unavoidable dish was just sis cevap. In addition to pie, sarma, okra and dolma, this is one of the dishes that will surely be found on the table of a Bosnian woman who is expecting guests. :) In my opinion, this is the most specific cooked dish with meat. No wonder you always like to eat everywhere. :)

Preparation steps

  • Chop the meat into bite-sized cubes. Chop onions and carrots as well.
  • Arrange on a toothpick in the following order: onion, carrot, meat, onion, carrot meat, carrot, onion. At the beginning and end of the toothpick there should be a bow!
  • Put a little oil in the sickle, then arrange the sis cevap in the sickle (circle). Pour enough water to keep the sis cevap under water. When it boils, reduce the heat and add the grated tomato (I ground it in a food processor), bay leaf, basil, allspice, basil, and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Cover and cook over low heat for about 45 minutes.
