Simit cake

Preparation steps

  • Melt the butter. Put the yoghurt, butter, oil and egg in a mixing bowl. Add sugar and salt and mix until everything is combined. Add gradually mixing the flour and baking powder until you get a smooth dough. Form 20 balls from the dough. Put in each ball. a piece of cheese.Wrap in a ball.
  • Put molasses in a bowl and stir it with a little water, put sesame in another bowl / you can toast it in a dry pan beforehand, but you don't have to / Dip the balls in molasses first and then in sesame / you can dip whole balls or just the top with the top and you as desired.
  • Arrange the cakes on baking paper. Cut each one crosswise. Bake in a preheated oven at 180C / 35-40min, they will see you when they get a nice color and start moving on the baking sheet.
  • Serve with some kind of mezu, salad, soup or stew in the picture with fig carpaccio.
