Sellou
For lovers of exotic desserts. A few weeks ago I met a Moroccan family with our friends. They brought this interesting treat, for which I of course had to immediately ask for a recipe and try it. It reminds me the most of our homemade halva it pays off.
Preparation steps
- Preheat oven to 175 degrees. Put the flour in a baking pan and bake for about thirty minutes or until golden brown. Mix the flour every 5 minutes to bake evenly. Cool the finished flour and sift so that there are no lumps.
- It is best to cook the almonds first, peel them, dry them and then fry them in a dry pan until sweet brown. Fry the sesame over a low heat, it usually takes about twenty minutes to get a nice golden brown color. You can do all this while baking the flour. Grind almonds and peanuts.
- Grind almonds and peanuts. When everything is ready mix all the dry ingredients, spices and sugar. If you wish, you can put the mixture prepared in this way in a jar and leave it for later to finish, as I was told, they always make larger quantities and leave it in the jar and then add butter and honey when needed. The mixture prepared in this way can stand in a well-closed container for up to 3 months in the refrigerator.
- Add melted butter to the prepared mixture and mix the honey well with your hands until well combined.
- You can shake the mixture prepared in this way in a baking tray, press it well to combine and then cut it, or you can put it in a bowl and take it out with a spoon into smaller bowls and serve it that way. You can decorate with roasted almonds.
- The mixture prepared in this way can be kept in the refrigerator in a well-closed container for up to a month.

Peanuts can be omitted, as I was told peanuts are usually put in to get a "special" taste. I left it out because the little chef is allergic to peanuts, but I tried the one they brought that was with peanuts and the taste is fantastic .
