Sauerkraut with mushrooms on baked polenta
The dish is easy to prepare, extremely profitable and very tasty, and it can also, like me today, be used for recycling the leftovers of yesterday's lunch :))) And to almost forget, it is prepared very quickly, so it took me longer to write a recipe than to prepare lunch :)))
Preparation steps
- Baked polenta:
- Bring water, milk and salt to a boil, then pour the polenta and cook it with constant stirring (even better with the help of a mixer). Set aside and let it cool just a little, so that it doesn't evaporate anymore. Add cream (if not, margarine) and cheese, and if you want a more spicy variant, you can also add spices such as: onion, garlic, crushed peppers, etc. Make thicker burgers (cakes) and arrange them in a tray lined with greased baking paper. Bake at 250 C for about 15 minutes to catch the crust on top. From this measure, you will get 12 burgers.
- Sauerkraut with mushrooms:
- If you use yesterday's leftover cabbage, then start cooking when you remove the polenta from the hob, and if you cook with sauerkraut, then start earlier. Saute chopped sauerkraut in 3 tablespoons of oil, season with chopped garlic, pepper, ground pepper, add lorber and pour 1 cup of water and let it simmer while you prepare the mushrooms, but make sure that liquid remains in it. Chop the leek, prodinstatti and add it to the thicker leaves of the sliced mushroom. Simmer a little, get and pepper, then simmer for a while until the mushroom juice is fried. Add the cabbage and sauté a little more, until the flavors come together. If you use yesterday's leftovers, chop larger pieces of cabbage or meat and add them to the mushrooms together with the liquid from the cooked cabbage.
- Serve three polenta cakes on a plate and pour over cabbage and mushrooms, pouring the stew liquid over them.
- I used to make this dish by spreading the polenta on a baking tray, then baking it and then cutting it into cubes, then serving, but mak63, with her comment on her recipe for polenta dumplings, gave me a great idea to make them in the form of cakes.
Serving
You can season polenta cakes prepared in this way with spices of your choice, or add chopped dried meat, ham, sausages…. and serve as a separate dish with various dairy products :)) I was already on the table, when I decided that I would need a picture, almost nothing left for painting :))) Pleasant!
