Salenjaci
Salenjaci were obligatory with donuts for pork dinners in our beautiful Slavonia.
Preparation steps
- Put the yeast with a teaspoon of sugar to rise in the warm milk.
- Put oil and salt in the flour and knead the dough with warm milk and yeast.
- Leave on warm to double in volume.
- Roll out with a rolling pin as thin as possible and coat with a third of the fat.
- Rewind in three layers on both sides like a book.
- Allow to rise again, roll out, coat and reassemble.
- Repeat the procedure once more (three times in total).
- After the last overlap leave it to grow again.
- Stretch the thickness of your finger and cut into 6X6 cm squares.
- Put half a teaspoon of jam on each square.
- Bend into a triangle, join the edges and roll.
- Bake over medium heat until golden brown.
- Sprinkle the powder with sugar mixed with vanilla sugar.
- Serve warm.
