Roti Jala with fruit
Roti Jala, or better to say “mesh bread”, is a Malaysian specialty. A very popular snack in the afternoon, with tea, as well as during Ramadan fasting, among Muslims. A special cup with three extended small funnels at the bottom or a bottle with three small necks is used to make the Roti Jala. And it can be like this….
Preparation steps
- Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix well. Allow to stand for a while before use.
- Heat the pan well, coat it with butter and lightly pour the mass into the circle with a ladle, thus making a grid. It is baked on one side only!
- It overlaps and rolls in a special way and I immediately stuffed each Roti Jala with freshly cut peaches and raspberries, arranged in a bowl, topped with maple syrup and sprinkled with vanilla powder. The grid is better visible on a dark background.
Serving
In the absence of a suitable tool for making Roti Jala, I worked in a way accessible to me, with an ordinary ladle. Roti Jala is served instead of bread, with savory dishes, and I made a sweet version.
