Rolled kadaif
Easy to make and always entices sighs…
Preparation steps
- Mix coarsely chopped walnuts with cinnamon, cloves and add a teaspoon of crystal sugar
- Open the kadaif well with your fingers. Take a strip about 4-5 cm wide, put a teaspoon of the mixture with walnuts at the beginning, then start rolling and at the same time hold the roll on the side with your fingers so that it is nicely shaped and does not fall apart. Cut with scissors at about 10 cm from the beginning .Continue until the kadaif is used up (we can also use smaller parts of kadaif, trying to get the desired shape with the extensions)
- Place the rolls in a circle in a circular tray no.26, compacted, because they are slightly reduced by baking
- Sprinkle with melted margarine or oil and place in the oven at 180 'and bake until it gets a nice golden color
- Put the ingredients for the syrup on the fire and as soon as the syrup boils, let it boil for about 10 minutes, then turn it off. Leave it to cool
- When the kadaif cools, add the syrup like this: Take out 1 roll, then put the syrup in the hole. So add the syrup until the kadaif absorbs it, 3-4 times. You may have a little syrup left, it depends on how soaked the kadaif you like. This is how kadaif is nicely crunchy on top and soaked below
Serving
While we are preparing the rolls, we store the kadaif in a damp kitchen cloth so that it does not dry out. This is what it looks like inside
