Rab baškotini

An old recipe for baškotina that is made in 48 hours, but don't let the length of the preparation scare you, because in their simplicity they are refined with a cup of coffee, tea and can stand for months locked in a box.

Preparation steps

  • Saute the almonds in water and peel them. It is best to dry them in the air for a day before preparation.
  • Mix the eggs with the sugar and vanilla, add a little sifted flour, lemon zest and peeled almonds and a tablespoon of rum.
  • Transfer the dough to a surface and knead it to make it stick to your hands.
  • Shape into a roll and place to dry in the oven for an hour at 120 C without the use of a fan.
  • After an hour of drying, take it out and wrap it in a wet cloth and leave it until the next day.
  • Uncover the baskets and cut them thinly, thinly and arrange them in a pan and dry them at 60 C until they harden for about 30 45 minutes, depending on the oven.
  • Allow to cool and store in a tin box

The recipe is passed from generation to generation and kept and they started baking it for the public to increase their income and today they can't strain it behind them. And here is the Rab baškotin, which with the addition of almonds turns into a real delicacy.
