Quick soda bread with dried figs and walnuts
It's St. Patrick's Day again and in my house it should be marked with the famous Soda bread. Although we have nothing to do with the Irish and Ireland, we have adapted this holiday and every year we are really looking forward to soda bread, maybe I could make it more often, but I just forget, so I have to make it for St. Patrick's Day. .
Preparation steps
- Put flour, powder, baking soda, sugar and salt in a mixing bowl, mix well, then add butter and rub it well into the flour. Add walnuts and figs to the mixture and stir, then add the buttermilk and quickly knead the messy dough, just until all the flour is moistened. Shape the dough into a ball with the help of floured hands, then transfer it to a baking sheet lined with baking paper and cut into x.
- Bake the bread in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 30-40 minutes depending on the strength of the oven. The bread should be a nice yellow color. Transfer the baked bread to the cooling rack and let cool. Serve with butter and honey, still warm for breakfast with a cup of coffee, that's the best.
