Picture frame or mirror made of salt dough
Another in a series of ideas on how to use salt dough while enjoying it endlessly…
Preparation steps
- First, cut out the shape of your choice from the thicker cardboard (in this case a circle). Insert a picture holder (you can use the part that opens a can of pate or some non-alcoholic pizza). Knead the salt dough. Stir cocoa into half of the dough. The more cocoa you add, the darker the dough will be. Roll it out thinly, then cut strips 15 mm thick with a knife. You can also cut the strips with a special knife with serrated edges. Now cut the strips to a length that corresponds to the width of the frame by adding 1 cm for folding. Fold one strip over the other so that at the bottom of the strip they are folded almost to the other half, and at the top they touch only slightly. Arrange decorations of uncolored salt dough of your choice over it. Glue the decorations with a more liquid mixture of flour and water. Leave for a few days to dry well. When the frame is dry, insert a picture or mirror, fix it on the back, and then stick the paper cut according to the shape of the frame. If desired, you can paint the frame with clear varnish.
