Norwegian meatballs / Kjøttkaker

Norwegian meatballs in sauce with a side dish of boiled potatoes and peas. This simple dish is traditional Norwegian. Favorite Norwegian lunch and my favorite too.

Preparation steps

  • Mix all the listed ingredients for the meatballs and mix well. Leave covered on the side for about 15 minutes.
  • From the mixture for meatballs form round meatballs slightly larger than our traditional. Arrange the shaped meatballs on a plate.
  • Bake the meatballs in the heated oil on the other side until they turn brown. Bake the meatballs for 7-9 minutes. take them out with a slotted spoon on a plate. Set aside.
  • Fry the flour in the fat, adding the soup we prepared from 2 beef cubes and 500 ml of water while stirring. Add milk. Spice. As soon as it starts to thicken, add the meatballs and let them simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  • Mix all the listed ingredients for peas and cook for 5 minutes. Season to taste.
  • Serve meatballs with boiled potatoes that we previously (peeled and cooked in salted water for 40 minutes) and peas.
