Melomakarona
In Greece, Christmas without melomacarons and pigeons is not Christmas! I made melomarone for the first time, the first Christmas after marriage, 17 years ago. My husband and I smeared the whole dose (otherwise my husband doesn't like treasure) .......... There are a lot of recipes, mine is from the Christmas supplement g -where Alexiadi
Preparation steps
- Mix the first 6 ingredients with a mixer for about 4 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, sift the flour (I add 7 salts and add if necessary), baking soda and baking powder, then add the whipped liquid mixture in the middle and knead. claims
- We take a little dough, shape it into an oblong shape with our hand and press a little with the fingers of the hand with which we shape it. We can also cut the dough with molds
- Arrange on a baking sheet, bake for about 1/2 hour at 175’C to brown
- While they are in the oven, we prepare the syrup. Put the honey, sugar and water to boil for about 5 minutes, remove the foam and pour over the melomacarones when they come out of the oven.
- When they absorb the syrup, turn them upside down and leave to cool
- Mix walnuts, cinnamon and cloves
- We turn over the melomacaroni and sprinkle the mixture under 7 Served plain, fir trees and of course… ..... mushrooms
