Masha and sweet quinoa porridge
If there’s a cartoon my son can watch countless times it’s Masha when she cooks porridge. Hers is pink and has everything, and ours is simple from quinoa, apples and raisins. For flavor, I added a little vanilla bourbon and cinnamon for decoration
Preparation steps
- wash a cup and a half of quinoa under running water (do not soak for too long)
- add three cups of water and quinoa and bring to a boil and then reduce the heat and let it cook for about 20 minutes. Be careful not to run out of water, as quinoa absorbs a lot.
- when the quinoa is half dry (about 20 minutes), add two diced apples, a handful of raisins and two glasses of milk (maybe vegetable) and let it cook a little more. The quinoa is said to be cooked when it is opened and its tail is seen. My little one is bothered while she is "alive" so I cooked it for another twenty minutes. You can also blend it in a blender, if you are going to give it to a child.
- If it is not sweet enough, add sugar / honey to taste. I put two tablespoons of brown sugar.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon. Although some recipes say that cinnamon is cooked together with porridge, I avoid it because it releases mucus and it is not very tasty for me.
Serving
Nuts go well with this porridge, so add whatever you have at home. In delight!
