Making paper from old paper and plants
Every household has a lot of unused paper or has access to a variety of plants from which unique paper can be made. Each is different, and their purpose is great: from picture frames, to writing letters, to drawing, to making greeting cards…
Preparation steps
- Pour a small amount of warm water over the old paper, which we have finely chopped before, mix it well and leave it to stand overnight. 2. To the mixture can be added chopped fresh herbs as desired, either leaves or flowers. 3. On the second day, mix this paper and water into the porridge by hand or with a mixer. 4. Half a teaspoon of laundry starch is mixed into this mixture of cold water and porridge. The porridge is then ready for use.
- In order to make the paper, we also have to make a wooden frame over which the insect net is stretched.
- Fill a large plastic container with water up to 4 cm, and put a sieve or net on the very bottom of the container (we put whatever we have on the bottom). 6. Distribute the paper pulp evenly on the sieve so that a thick layer of pulp remains on the sieve and load it with boards on which the thickness of the paper depends. 7. In the paper pulp, after distribution on a sieve, you can put the petals of various flowers, leaves, flowers, small seeds for additional decoration, and various essential oils for a nicer scent. You can also color the paper by dipping the paper in a solution of tea such as chamomile, red poppy, yellow dandelion… 8. When we have done what we wanted with the porridge, lightly lift the sieve, drain the sieve and put it on the old newspaper to dry the end. 9. When the porridge has dried, gently separate the paper from the frame with a knife and let it dry for a while. 10. And that's it!
- Red poppy color Pour three handfuls of fresh poppy petals with a cup of boiling water. The petals must be covered and left to stand overnight. On the second day, mix 2 tablespoons of 70% alcohol (every pharmacy has it), leave it to stand for a few more hours and strain it into a bottle and use it to color the paper.
