Lentil stew with specla and hot dogs
.. this recipe comes from the German province of Baden Württemberg and as specle (Spaetzle) became available to us with the opening of the LIDL retail chain in Croatia, try it .. my whole family loves this dish ..
Preparation steps
- Soak the lentils in cold water for at least 12 hours before starting the preparation (preferably overnight)
- Peel an onion and chop it into small cubes, fry in a little butter. Onions should not be dark. Drain the lentils, add the fried onions, put a full tablespoon of tomato concentrate, bay leaf and pour about 1.5 liters of water, stir and let it cook for about 45-50 minutes. If possible, do not stir during cooking, otherwise the lentils will fall apart. When the lentils are almost cooked, (the water has almost evaporated but be careful not to burn them!) Melt the butter in a pan and add the flour (approx. 3-4 tablespoons) and make a dark spray. Pour the foundation with 2 dcl. water and water the spray thereby. Pour about 1/2 liter of water into the pot with the lens to boil it all together and add the spray, mix gently and watch until the lens becomes thick enough. Add salt, pepper and vinegar to taste and mix gently and remove from the stove.
- Cook the speckle (Spaetzle) in salted water as directed, drain and add a piece of butter and stir and allow to cool slightly. Cook the hot dogs. You put a 1: 1 ratio lens and speculum on a plate.
