Lazy pigeon rolls with cabbage
A very tasty Russian-Ukrainian dish that is prepared very quickly. Cabbage rolls or meatballs are a relatively newer recipe for me, but now I often prepare them and simply adore them. Preparation is easy and quick, the food is hearty and not expensive. Pigeons are fresh cabbage sarma and these sloths have cabbage in a mixture for rolls or meatballs - whatever. I highly recommend them !!
Preparation steps
- Finely chop the cabbage, pour hot water over it and let it stand for a while to soften, then strain it. We put rice in a bowl with water to cook, we need not quite cooked rice, which we also process.
- Put minced meat in a bowl, add finely chopped onion and egg. salt of strained cabbage, salt of strained rice and spices to taste, I put only salt and pepper. Mix by hand until the ingredients come together and then with wet hands form meatballs or rolls of oblong shape. Arrange the rolls in a slightly greased mold and bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes at 180c, during which time prepare the sauce.
- In a frying pan, fry the grated carrot and chopped onion in a little oil, add tomato sauce, allspice, salt, pepper, sugar, bay leaf and finely chopped garlic [I put 3 prices] and add water about 400-500ml depending on how much we want it to thicken us sauce. When it boils add sour cream to taste and the sauce is ready.
- Take the pigeons out of the oven and pour over the sauce. Bake for another 25 minutes at 200c and that's it. I want to mention that my pictures with reduced amounts of ingredients [300gr of meat]
- Serve warm with a side dish of rice, mashed potatoes, pasta ... to taste!
