“Kotlić” (gourmet stew for a cool team) :)

I also brought this dish from my parents' home. :-) It was always cooked for big family and friendly gatherings. It was a real team work: one peeled potatoes, the other cut onions and carrots, Dad around the fire, Mom around the meat… and everyone would definitely stir this wonderful dish at least once! Cool! : D

Preparation steps

  • While the fire is cooking, clean and chop the larger onions and garlic, and cut the bacon into larger pieces. First, it turns a little yellow on the fat, then add coarsely chopped peppers, bay leaves, cover with cold water and finally place the meat cut into larger pieces. Sprinkle everything with red pepper, spices, salt, pepper and pour water. Simmer for over three hours, stirring occasionally. After an hour and a half, add coarsely chopped carrots and potatoes, and an hour later, cover with wine. At the very end, sprinkle with parsley.

Serving

If you like it a little more spicy, you can also add some hot peppers. The more types of meat, the tastier the kettle. The amount can be reduced or increased in proportion to the number of people. This dish can also be made in the kitchen on the stove, but, this way it is better! :-) Serve with homemade bread, pepperoni, horseradish, cabbage salad and red wine!
