Hussar cookies
In honor of the soldiers of the light cavalry K. und K., elegant hussars, several types of small cookies were named. Maybe because they look like buttons from their uniforms, and maybe because they are lined up next to each other, they look like they are ready for a parade.
Preparation steps
- Sift the flour, make a hollow in the middle and put sliced butter in it. Mix everything well, then add 140 g of powdered sugar, egg yolks and ground walnuts. Knead the dough and form small balls.
- Roll each ball in the rest of the sugar and arrange in a pre-greased pan. Make a recess in the middle of each ball.
- Bake at 200 ° C for about 15 minutes.
Serving
When the cookies have cooled, fill the cavities with apricot or cherry jam and serve.
Advice
You can add 2 tablespoons of ground poppy seeds to the dough instead of ground walnuts.
