Homemade potato starch

There are several ways to make homemade starch. It is usually done with flour, but it can also be done in my own way ....

Preparation steps

  • Peel a potato and grate it on a grater for apples. Pour cold water to cover and leave to stand for about half an hour. Strain the potatoes and mash a little with your hands to get as much liquid as possible. Allow the liquid to stand to trap the sediment at the bottom of the vessel. Carefully drain excess water. Pour cold water into the precipitate, twice the amount of the precipitate and bring to a boil over low heat. If very thick, add more water. Boil a little more and save until use. If you want to leave the starch very firmly, and for tablecloths or the like, you can add more water and then lightly soak the object in that solution. The less water is added to the object the harder it is starched. Do not squeeze much. Allow to dry and then iron in the usual way.

Serving

In this way, starch can be made from not very ripe wild chestnuts. Chestnut is an even firmer starch and lasts longer starched .....
