Rosa Cooking

Halwa Sheherzade

Halwa for 1001 nights :)

Preparation steps

  • Put to cook on medium heat, milk, butter, ground almonds, pumpkin puree (I bought ‘Butternut’), sugar, semolina. When it thickens add half a teaspoon of butter, rose water, saffron, sliced prunes, and stir until it begins to separate from the pan (a ball is formed). Shake on aluminum foil, spread a little halva with a food processor, put the foil on top and roll it out thinly (approx. 5 mm).
  • Sprinkle with chopped pistachios, almonds, crushed cardamom seeds and hibiscus flowers and again gently roll out over foil to press into the halva. Cool down. Cut into cubes (approx. 10x10 cm). Stack the halwa sheets on top of each other by placing a cut baking paper in between.
  • Note: I bought a dried hibiscus flower. It was a little salty so I boiled it for 2 mins in water to which I added rose water. I put it on kitchen paper to dry. ;)
