Gypsy pork stew
Don't ask me why it's called that because I have no idea, but I know I really liked it when I first tried it… it's not exactly for those on a diet, but sometimes you can make a little mistake, right?
Preparation steps
- Lightly fry the bacon cubes in the fat and add the pork, which you lightly fry on all sides.
- Add the sliced onion and sauté until the onion is glassy, then add the crushed garlic. When the garlic smells nice, add the paprika, meat stock, ground paprika, peeled tomatoes and bay leaf.
- Add enough water to cover everything in the pot, add salt and pepper to taste and if you want hot and spicy, add one chili pepper.
- Saute until the meat is tender and the sauce thickens, and at the very end add the finely chopped parsley.
Serving
The original recipe is from the show "Good morning Croatia", this is my version. Cooked polenta (žganci) goes perfectly with this dish. It is better if it is a little hotter and more spicy, but when you cook for children, you work with sweet peppers and without chili peppers.
