Griz halva - fasting
An excellent fasting semolina dessert that is easy to make. Halva was also made by my mother when she wanted to sweeten us. When she made it around the house, its tempting smell of baked flour or semolina spread. Halva reminds me of my childhood. I believe that there are other halva recipes on these pages, so here is mine, maybe someone will like it.
Preparation steps
- In hot water add sugar and vanilla sugar and stir to dissolve. In another bowl, measure the amount of semolina with a cup. We grind walnuts. We pour oil into the sieve, add the semolina and fry it with constant stirring, / not on a high heat /, until the semolina changes color and smells wonderful, / you must not overcook it or darken it too much /. Add ground walnuts to the fried semolina and fry everything together for another minute or two.
- Remove the sieve with the fried semolina and walnuts from the hob and immediately add the water with the dissolved sugar and vanilla, stirring constantly with a whisk. Then return the sickle to the hob and stir constantly until the halva thickens and begins to separate from the sickle.
- We take a spoonful of the finished semolina halva and place it on a plate. We put walnut shells on each part of the halva as a decoration. Halva was made with a spoon like this by my mother, so that's how I made it. If you want, you can put the finished halva in a rectangular bowl, flatten it and then cut it into cubes. You can also make it in the shape of a ball.
Serving
This semolina halva is lean and you can sweeten with it on fasting days. Definitely great with a coffee. Stored this way, it lasts for several days. Pleasant :)
