GRIEBENSCHMALZ (crackling spread)
.... Bavarians enjoy this delicacy, with apples and onions, and if there is black beer… .... A combination of seemingly incompatible :) :)
Preparation steps
- Heat the cracklings lightly to release the fat.
- Add grated and lightly drained apples to it.
- Onions slightly "glazed" on the fat, ie to turn slightly yellow.
- Then mix the onion into the mixture of cracklings and apples and leave it on the fire for a few minutes to combine.
- Fill the jars while still hot and close.
- Keep refrigerated. I didn’t believe I was going to like this, but as soon as I took the first bite, the dish won me over. It is most deliciously spread on black bread and even more so if you have black beer… .You can't fail… :)
