Frozen chokeberry
This is actually more information than a recipe, for a fruit that "just didn't arrive" this season. The basic way to store chokeberry is to freeze it!
Preparation steps
- There are various ways to store and store chokeberry during times when it is not possible to harvest or buy it fresh. One of it is freezing! The well-known fact that chokeberry tolerates low temperatures, up to minus 60, so that the chemical and nutritional value of freezing will not be reduced, and gives us the opportunity to process it throughout the year. It is also important to note that freezing reduces astringency, and increases its juiciness by some five percent! So, it is essential to store as much of this fruit in the freezer as possible!
- Small, dark-skinned fruits should be washed immediately after harvesting and dried well with paper towels / napkins. Pack the fruits in kilogram bags and put them directly in the freezer. You can make literally everything from frozen chokeberry: jam, juice, jam, syrup ... or consume about 30 berries a day, in the same way as fresh ones!
