Frkanci

Here is another old recipe that is made in our family from year to year… Its working name is "Socks" or, translated from Slovenian, "Socks". Still, I decided to call him "Frkanci", in memory of an extremely brave, dear and very sad woman, who fought as best she could… Unfortunately, she lost the battle… Aunt Ana, this is for you

Preparation steps

  • FOR DOUGH
  • Soak the yeast in a little milk.
  • Sift the flour with the baking powder into the bowl in which we will make the dough.
  • Add yeast, egg, egg yolk, butter or margarine and, with the addition of milk as needed, knead the dough.
  • Divide the dough into 6 piles (approximately 180-190 g each) and leave to rest for half an hour.
  • FOR FILLING
  • While the dough is resting, make the filling.
  • We grind the walnuts, make a snow of egg whites, add sugar and the juice of one lemon and mash with our hands to get a homogeneous mixture. We divide it into 6 parts (optional, but it will be easier to determine how much stuffing we can consume - it can happen that it fits !!).
  • PROCEDURE
  • From each pile of dough, roll out a thin circle shape and cut it in half with a knife, then again in half…. and so on until we get 16 triangles.
  • Place a little filling on the wider part of the dough and wrap it so that it rolls towards the narrow part of the dough (towards the tip of the triangle).
  • We stack them in a tin, they don't need to be greased, they don't stick.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes at 190 C.
  • Remove immediately from the tin and roll in a mixture of powdered sugar and vanilla sugar.
  • NOTE From these quantities we get 96 freaks!
