English apple tart
The millionth recipe with apples .... The dough is fluffy, crispy, without eggs, there is no sugar in it, if it wasn't for butter it would be said to be very simple. Nor is the hope too rich, it is reduced to the necessary minimum. From all this one could conclude that the stake is boring but it is not. Interesting are the powdered ginger, cinnamon and apricot jam coating, so it says in the original recipe and I coat it with bitter orange jam. It tastes better to me and it seems to me somehow more English .... The cake can be served with semi-solid or firmly whipped icing, who wants a richer taste! The original recipe is from Burda's cookbook, 1984 edition.
Preparation steps
- Put all the ingredients for the dough in a bowl or in a multipractice and stir until the ingredients are assembled into a ball that does not stick. It should not be kneaded too much if it is kneaded by hand. Divide the dough into two parts. and stretch two circles, one to cover the bottom and edges of the tart pan and the other part of the dough large enough to cover the stuffed tart. In the middle of the second part of the dough, make a small cross-shaped cut with a sharp knife so that the steam can come out when baking the cake.
- Put all the ingredients for the stuffing in a bowl and mix well.
- Cover the tart form with the first part of the dough, the edges of the dough do not have to be cut if they boil. The original recipe envisages pricking the dough with a fork, but I don't do that and there's nothing wrong with the cake. Arrange the apple filling, I arrange it and you can just hand it out and flatten it, then put another part of the rolled dough over the filling.
- Squeeze the edges of both tests well and possibly twist towards the middle of the form
- Bake the tart for about 40 minutes at 200 °, hot air 180 °
- When the cake is baked, take it out of the oven and while it is still hot, coat it with heated apricot jam. I coat it with cold bitter orange jam.
- When the cake has cooled, sprinkle it with icing sugar. Or simply sprinkle it with powdered sugar.
- Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream can be served with the cake.
