Elsässer Flammekuchen

This dish comes from the French province of Alsace… it is very simple and good especially for those who like onions and bacon… with beers and maybe great wine…

Preparation steps

  • Knead the dough from all the ingredients, cover with a clean cloth and let it double.
  • Cut the onion and bake into thin slices.
  • Roll out the dough into a thin ca.3mm thinly and transfer it to a greased baking tray.
  • Coat the dough with cream fraiche, then arrange the onion and bacon on top, add salt and pepper.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 230 degrees for 15-20 min.
  • Cool briefly, cut into cubes and serve.

Serving

This measure is enough for 1 baking tray from the oven. The amount of bacon and onions can vary depending on how much you like.
