Eggs - decorative candles for Easter
So far, I’ve only posted recipes related to food, so since Easter is coming here’s one idea on how to make beautiful decorative candles for the Easter table yourself. I can't remember where I found this "recipe", I think it was in an old Burda ...
Preparation steps
- The glue is best the strong one that bonds within a few seconds but watch your fingers! If you don’t, Oho glue is OK. Instead of colored ropes, you can use different colored ribbons. You can also try different colors instead of silver spray. I used tealight candles already bought in orange, if you can't find yellow or orange then buy plain white and coat with nail polish in orange or yellow ...
- Cut the canvas bag to get 4 squares 12cmx12cm. If you want more candles then use more eggs and cut out extra squares. Pull the rope piece by piece on each side so that you get fringes about 1cm-1.5cm wide
- Break the eggs on a thinner tip and pour into a cup. Slowly break part by part to the middle until you get the desired shape. Be careful the wider part of the egg is used for the candle, so be sure to break the shell on the narrow part, so that rotten part of the shell will not be used. Carefully rinse and dry the shells.
- Place the shells to sit upside down on a piece of newsprint and spray evenly with silver paint. allow to dry according to the instructions on the bottle.
- Cut the cardboard into a round shape with a diameter of 1.5 cm. Glue that part to the lower part of the shell, it will serve as a stand. Put a lot of glue and let it dry. Then add glue to the middle of each canvas square and glue the shell.
- Cut a colored rope about 20cm long and make a bruise. Glue the bruise to the canvas.
- Put the spark plugs inside the shell and that’s it! :) It would be best if you put the shells on some decorative base so you can easily move them from one place to another.
