Crocheted popcorn - procedure
Here as I promised, I will try to put the making process accompanied by pictures for these little, cute, crocheted popcorn!
Preparation steps
- Make 42 stitches and connect them in a circle. Then make five rows of columns with one charge. Leave 6 stitches on one side and 7 stitches on the other; so connect 8 stitches in the middle with an ordinary stitch without charges (this is the 6th row marked in the picture)
- Then we go to making the head - on the front where I wrote with pencil number 7. This means that on these 7 columns (of course on both sides of the popcorn, so there will be 14) make the seventh row so that two columns from the bottom of the order we merge into one column with one imposition. That way we will narrow the neck and get a narrower part. We will repeat the same in the eighth row. We will connect two columns from the seventh row into one column with one charge. For the ninth row, one column should be made on each column from the lower, eighth row with one imposition, so we do not take it, so that the very top of the head is a little wider than the neck. When we do that, we finish the head by simply joining the pillars without imposition.
- Once the head is done, let’s do the tail in the same way. In the picture, the part marked with the number 10. Make the 10th row (or the first on the tail) the same as on the neck by joining two columns into one with one imposition. The eleventh row also merges the two into one. Join the twelfth row without imposition and finish the tail.
- Turn the popcorn "upside down" and make another row of white wool on the underside. I worked on this example by making one column with one imposition in each existing column and adding one more stitch so that the row expanded to get the base of the popcorn.
- We can finish that lower part that we made a little more and decorate it with red wool with a simple stitch without a fee. Just to get in shape
- Here the popcorn has its own shape, but we still have to make a crest (it can be made of the same red wool as the bottom edge), then the eyes and the beak - it can also be made of embroidery thread or wool. It can serve you what you have on hand.
- Finally, in order for the popcorn to have its beautiful shape, we fill it with cotton wool. Then we cut harder paper or cardboard in the size and shape of the bottom edge of the popcorn, and with a simple sewing needle we sew that cardboard on the popcorn so that the wool does not fall out and so that the popcorn lasts longer.
