Constantinople wafers

When I put the picture of these cakes, I was convinced that the recipe is well known to everyone, but it seems that there is still no recipe for Constantinople, or alva wafers, as they are called in some other parts. My dear ones who were looking for you, and the others who lost the recipe, please, sweeten up with this quick treat that is being prepared quickly!

Preparation steps

  • Beat the egg whites and sugar well with a mixer and cook on steam. When it starts to thicken, add honey, lemon juice and zest.
  • When the snow is well beaten and cooked so much that it thickens and sticks a little, remove from the steam and mix in the chopped walnuts. Phil must stay white as snow.
  • Fill the wafers with a warm filling. There is also a version with twice as much sugar (30 tablespoons), then the filling will be harder, like alva. I personally prefer this sharper variant. Since you will have egg yolks left, I also put a recipe for cookies that only you need, so you can combine - Smiljka's caramel wafers.

Serving

The next day, cut the bars.
