Cinnamon balls (Kannel-boller)
I know there are more recipes like this, but I also know that they are different… This is the Norwegian version, a recipe from my former neighbor, which she brought from Trondheim….
Preparation steps
- Melt the yeast in warm milk, mix the egg a little with the sugar, add the butter and knead a soft, non-stick dough from all the ingredients. Let it double.
- Roll out into a rectangle the thickness of a finger.
- Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
- Wrap a tight roll.
- Cut 2 fingers of thick slice.
- Arrange them on baking paper like roses.
- Let them grow a little more.
- Coat them with egg. If you have "sugar beads", now is the time to sprinkle them on the pastry!
- Bake for about 15 minutes. at 200 ° C.
Serving
When they cool, you can pour a glaze of cold water and powdered sugar over them, or just sprinkle with powdered sugar.
