Chokeberry, grape and blackberry jam
After picking one 8.5kg of chokeberry and one 6kg of grapes, I decided to make a jam from a combination of these berries. I also added blackberries as I tossed one bag in the chest. The result is a fine dark liquid that will be very happy to be poured over many creams, ice cream ... Or I'll just put it in cakes ... Maybe on bread. ;)
Preparation steps
- First prepare the grapes - weigh 2 kg, remove the berries from the stalks, wash them and blend them in a blender twice. The first time squeeze the juice, and the second time strain the porridge through a strainer. Both the foreskin and the pits will remain in the strainer, if you like cuticles, sift them a little more and add them to the liquid.
- Wash the chokeberry berries, remove the stalks, if any, and add them to the grape liquid. Add blackberries (frozen for me) and sugar.
- Place in the oven at 200 ° C and when it boils, cook, stirring occasionally, for another 2-2.5 hours. One third of the liquid will evaporate. If you want, you can also use a stick mixer to run a little over the pot to chop the chokeberry. I did, but not too much to keep my berries.
- Pour the hot jam into preheated jars (I either heat them in the oven at 100 ° C or heat them for 2 minutes in the microwave on medium power) and turn on the stopper to vacuum.
- From this amount I got 11 jars of 370g.
